Photographer of the Week: Art Streiber

Art Streiber is a Celebrity Portrait Photographer. And the way he captures the essence of a person’s personality is what I want to focus on. Notice how what is happening in the photo reflects an element of the subject’s personality.

These aren’t typical portraits, they are more engaging and they break the rules.

After viewing this, answer the following questions with a comment in complete sentences.

1. Which of these photos break the most rules? What is happening in the photo that breaks the rules?

2. What element of your subject’s personality could you photograph in a similar way? What would you add to not make it a traditional portrait?

3. What will you do differently now that you have seen an example of Streiber’s work?

I think that the photo of the magician floating breaks most rules and has the viewer scratching their head and wondering how it was possible to take the photo.

I could take a photograph representing them in a way Streibers work expresses his clients, I would take pictures surrounding my subject with items or a place that defines them as a person. I would add an element of mobility the more the movement the more the depth of the picture the less traditional it is.

    3. What will you do differently now that you have seen an example of Streiber’s work?
I cant capture as much feeling and emotion as he can, but I would put less effort in finessing the picture and rather explain who the person is in picture form.
