I take the one with the cat and rain, as the cat being cold, and the black and white represents that cold feeling well.

  2. The black and white adds an older look to the photo. The images would be less interesting. In each image there is only one subject. You get more out of the photo from one subject. My favorite image is the first one.

  6. it adds a mysterious vibe to it. If they were to have color i think that they would be happier and almost childlike on a few of them manly because of the subject. There is one main subject per photo but a few “accessories” in a few of them. People are going to look at the subject more than the surrounding areas, and it gives a little more to the subject. They make me feel curious.

-The B&W makes the images look as if they are HD photos from the 1950s.

What would these look like as color photographs?
-I think if they were in color that they may just look like regular photos with some cool imagery.

How many subjects are present in these images?
-Throughout the photos there are only one possibly two subjects depending upon the focus.

What do we get out of just focusing on one subject?
-When we focus on only one object we see that the subject must have an important purpose and/or meaning.

What meaning do you make out of these photos?
-I view these images as all sorts of events or times in a person’s life.
When they enjoyed blowing bubbles to picking a flower (possibly to give to someone) to being “drowned” by life and all of its issues.

How do they make you feel?
-I feel as if I am probing a person’s memories and experiences that they’ve had.

  8. The black and white adds a mysterious sense to the photos and it adds an old fashion view to the picture. If they were in color I think it wouldn’t have the same meaning to it as it does in color. You wouldn’t get the same mysterious feeling to it. In these photos there is only one subject present with its surrounding. Focusing on one subject would have our minds focus on that one thing and our eyes won’t wonder to each subject so our eyes would really focus on the one subject present. The meaning of these photos is saddening and alone maybe even a little lost and hopelessness. I feel curious and a little saddened when i take in these images.

  11. The black and white in these photos presents something more serious and dramatic. Killing the color makes the a photo that would have the opposite tone with color more saddening. These images have very few subjects of one at a time. When we focus on only one photo we are making the photo more powerful and you message would clearly come across. These photos make me feel both happy and sad at the same time depending on the subject. The meaning is there is can be beauty in all of the darkness.

  13. What the black and white does to these photos is add depth and focus into the subject. They make the subjects of the photo look more intriguing and mysterious looking. If these photos were taken in color, there wouldn’t be the depth or focus these black and white photos have. In each picture, there is at least 1, maybe 2 subjects. When you focus on one object, the viewer’s eye is immediately drawn to it, which makes it all seem more interesting to the eye. The photo of the cat is primarily my favorite, as I love cats and the snow. Plus, the cat look somewhat heroic in the photo. These photos are make me feel calm, like there isn’t a worry in the world.

  26. Black and white adds darkness to these images and gives them a completely different look. If they were color photographs they would have a lighter feel to them and wouldn’t be as mysterious. I don’t think they would have been as impactful if they were in color. There is only one subject present in these images. When you just focus on one subject it takes away other distractions and allows people to look deeper at it. These photos make me feel at peace and kind of still.

  27. Black and White makes these images more detailed. Because there is no color, the main subjects are brighter and everything else is kind of secondary, making the important things more eye catching. These would look less dramatic if these were colored. There is one subject per image, because of that we get more of the emotion and impact from focusing on just one subject. The meaning i get out of these photos is that black and white is beautiful too. These photos actually feel depressing and dark.

  28. black and white to me applies a less vibrant and more monotone emotion behind the image as much as it does directly to the image and when the colors are reintroduced so are different emotions and feelings you get from looking at the pictures. the black and white also neutralizes the colors that might immediately draw you and so reintroducing them would change your focus on the image. when focusing on one spot the image shows how much the lighting and location of the light matters. with each photo i take feelings of both happiness but sadness and they give me a grim feeling.
