  4. What makes these photos work?
These photos work because the subject is making something else other than a plain image of the subject.

How is Davis able to achieve this affect?
He is trying to make another image using certain subjects that have no relation to eachother.

What would the images look like without captions?
I would still be able to recognize what was happening because at first I didn’t even see the captions, so it will still work and look good.

Do these work well in a series?
Yes, they all look good and it all works in making great images.

What ideas could you take and put into your own photo series?
I could take the idea of using other objects to make a different subject. Something that does not resemble the picture but has it’s own meaning.

  5. The photographer uses simple everyday things into interesting photos. I think that he makes simple things into art and makes some of them look like animals. without the captions im guessing that people wouldn’t know what they are. Yes I believe that they would work in a series. I would try to do the same thing but with different stuff.

The fact that they use things that the kind of look like, like the dog and the blackberries, i think they were trying to make a poodle.

How is Davis able to achieve this affect?
By being creative, thinking outside the box, and executing what he saw.

What would the images look like without captions?
They would look like how the viewer would interpret it, but i think that its pretty cleaver so they would get it.

  8. What makes these photos work?
-They work because of the similarity they have to real world items/things.

How is Davis able to achieve this affect?
-Davis does this by taking small, simple, everyday items and making them mini replicas of other, larger items.

What would the images look like without captions?
-They would look like the small items (noodles, flip-flops, etc.)

Do these work well in a series?
-I believe that these photos do work in a series.

-I could be a little more ingenious with my pictures and perhaps make some similar looking photos inspired from these ideas of Mr. Davis.

  9. What makes these photos work is the fact that they are all ordinary objects or things, but photographed in ways that make them look more interesting, looking like they are other objects.

Davis is able to achieve this by careful observation of the subjects and proper placement of the additions to the objects.

It’s difficult to say what these would be without the captions, so these photos would probably look like weird avant-garde photos, or nonsense.

These images work well in a story if someone is trying to show the simplicity of the world. Other than that, not really.

  10. The reason these photos work is because the photos look like the object they are trying to imitate so the photographer manipulates objects to get the desired effect. He uses captions to help us see the image if our eyes don’t catch the photographers image for the photos. They do work well in a series, the ideas I get is manipulating things to make it look like a real thing.

  11. What makes these photos work?
These photos work as a sequence, using regular objects or things and putting captions on them to make them seem, look, and feel completely different. In a way, a couple words to your photography can go a long way.

How is Davis able to achieve this affect?
Use simple rhythmic pictures with words to back it up and tell a story out of pure simplicity.

What would the images look like without captions?
The images without the captions would be merely nothing but what they look like. A cheese grader doing its job, instead of a building on fire, two pencils with rubber bands in between instead of chopsticks holding up noodles.

Do these work well in a series?
These work very well together, because they’re abstract thoughts with simple images.

What ideas could you take and put into your own photo series?
Take a ordinary object or objects and use in to express different types of things it usually isn’t used for.

  12. The thing that makes these photos work is that the unconventional items are made to look conventional in the way they are presented. Davis shows this by using the tissue box to symbolize the mountain. They would look not too different, i guess the captions just help the audience understand the photo if they do not understand the creativity. I could try to do the same thing using things that are random to make creative photos of conventional things.

  15. The thing that makes these photos stand out are the fact that they are using unconventional items and making art with them in a sense of a photo. Davis shows it with the simplistic rhythmic photos. The images without the captions would just be what the objects are doing rather than what the artist is trying to capture. Yes all the photos fit with series and work. Using unusual object in a way that it captures what other objects are used for.

  16. The photographer makes things by using every day objects. It shows that any thing is art with some effort and creativity. Without the caption it would be hard to see what the artist say like the burning building but it is still a really cool idea. It is a great series of photos.

  17. These photos work because the subjects in them are placed in a way that makes sense yet is funny. Ordinary objects are being reimagined. I think the captions make the photos make a lot more sense. These work well as a series because the same idea is shown in each photo it’s just done in a different way. I could take from this that my photo series images don’t have to be totally similar but they just have to follow the same theme.
