Use old photos of something I have, go to the place I took them, and do what they did by placing the photo in the picture I’m taking.
What other places would this work?
Everywhere, as long as you have an old picture of that place, then you can do this.
Which places would not work and why?
Places that have changed. If a building got torn down, or something is changed, then it wouldn’t make sense and it wouldn’t look good.

I think that these are a merge between the past and the present. One way they are similar is the buildings in the backgrounds and the only things that is different is the clothing and the way that the photos are in color. I believe that in other places it could also work as well they will look just as cool.The places that would not is the new buildings that were made today.

The photographer is merging past and present to create such a nostalgic feeling to every image he creates. He is essentially painting with two different pictures.

Past and present. A world, during world, and a world after world.
How could you do something similar?
By taking old pictures of myself and aligning them with my current self and creating a past/future portrait.

At amusement parks, such as Disneyland, compare it to the first day it opened to now.

Places that have not changed since their creation. It would just be taking it at two different time periods.

The photographer is lining up photos from the past with present day and taking a picture. Its a comparison of the present and the past. I don’t really know what i would do that is similar. Places that change to drastically would not create the same affect.

in these photos the contrast is shown between what is and what it used to be by holding up old photos of locations to the locations now. In some of them two worlds seem to be simply old and new but for some of them they reflect the ideas and culture of the era of these pictures such as the photo reflecting the Nazi control of Paris. this is a great way to tell a story with just one picture because of the context that is given but i think that this could work with anything if the message is right like in any old room an old photo can reflect a scene that contrasts the one that is presented as happening in the moment. these warm ups make me realize more with each one that given the right tools and inspiration any concept can always be given life. this one specifically i think is versitile because if you chose to do landscape it could be like a clear cut forest next to a picture of it before the lumber company hit it.
