I think the lighting in these photos are One Light, and I think it is overhead of the subject so the whole subject is lit from the top.

The photographer used this kind of lighting to show the subject and keep the black background not as lit, so that the subject is the main focus and it makes it an overall better image.

These photos would have a white background instead of a black one, and the subject wouldn’t be so easy to see or even be able to recognize what it is.

I’m guessing that they used a black background with really bright lights to capture the details of the butterfly so I think that the lights are high keys. So I believe that the black background was used in the photo because so that the background can’t distract the viewer and that type of lighting was used because to highlight the textures and details of the butterfly. If there were low key lighting then you wouldn’t be able to see the really cool details of the butterfly.

The lighting is very bright and one that really emphasizes the pretty colors of the butterfly.I think that the lighting is kind of in the the middle of high and low key because, the black background is subtle and black, and the center of the photo is the beautiful with the colored butter fly. The photographer choose this kind of lighting because he wanted to make the focus on the center of the photo. He also edited the photo in a way that made the butterfly stand out. If he didn’t have low key lighting, the photo wouldn’t as simple and beautiful. There is nothing that is drawing your eyes away from the butterfly and I feel like too much light and brightness would take away from the simplicity of the detailed butterfly.

The brightness is just enough to bring out the vibrancy of the photo. I think the lighting is low key due to the dark background and how he/she uses it. I think the photographer uses this type of lighting to capture the full use of the butterfly. There would be a glare on the brighter colors so it would look really bad.

The lighting in these photos is completely dark, except for around the subject. The lighting is highkey in the center, but fades to low key around the edges. The photographer chose this kind of lighting because he wants his viewers to only pay attention to the subject and have more vibrant colors.
